BIG news about the CCO Contract!

Call Center Workers United

Sisters and Brothers,

Last Friday, Secretary Becerra and CMS announced that they are planning to recompete, or re-bid the call center contract (CCO) that is currently held by Maximus. In the announcement, they mentioned including a “labor harmony” requirement in the new contract.

What does “labor harmony” mean?

Labor harmony means that any bidder for the new contract would be required to negotiate an agreement with the union in order to avoid disruption from labor disputes. CWA is ready to negotiate a labor harmony agreement with any company that bids for the CCO contract, including Maximus. Regardless of the contract, Maximus could still do the right thing right now and respect your right to organize a union free from interference.

Over the last two years, we have walked off the job multiple times, shut down entire call centers, and some of us even got arrested after engaging in a peaceful protest in DC last week to bring attention to our demands. While we monitor the contracting process to make sure our interests are protected, we will continue to demand the living wage, affordable healthcare, and job security that we deserve.

If you have questions about what this re-bid means for us, please reach out to one of your organizing committee members or contact us at CallCenterWorkers@cwa-union.org. In 2024, our fight for justice will be more important than ever. Be sure to follow us on Instagram or Facebook to stay updated on the campaign and encourage your co-workers to join us too!

In solidarity,

Call Center Workers United Organizing Committee
