Bargaining update for DIRECTV. We are happy to announce that CWA and DIRECTV have agreed to a tentative agreement on a four-year contract.
Here are some of the highlights:
Wages – 5% wage increase the first year.
3% increase plus cola, (not to exceed a total wage increase of 5%) in the second year.
3% increase plus cola, (not to exceed a total wage increase of 5%) in the third year.
3% increase plus cola, (not to exceed a total wage increase of 5%) in the fourth and final year.
The first year raise of 5% will be retroactive to the expiration date so long as the contract is ratified no later than May 10, 2024.
The company has agreed to eliminate the lower wage scale for Premises Technician.
Note: After the ratification of this contract, the DIRECTV premises technicians will have a new title. The new title is DIRECTV Services Technician.
Healthcare – There will be a Kaiser option, as well as three other options. The exact numbers and specifics will be forthcoming.
Other benefits – Martin Luther King holiday – The company has agreed to add Martin Luther King as a paid holiday.
The company has agreed to a no strike/no lockout clause.
Overtime cap – The overtime cap has been reduced from 14 hours to 12 hours.
54 hour rule – All hours in excess of 54 hours will be paid out at the rate of two hours pay for each hour worked.
Scheduling – The company has agreed to memorialize the scheduling trial (with the two consecutive days off.)
Job security – Voluntary layoff process. In order to reduce a surplus, the company will offer employees the opportunity to voluntarily resign and receive a layoff allowance. This could reduce or eliminate the need for an involuntary layoff.
Grievance process – The company and the union have agreed to keep the three step grievance process.
Information regarding a Contract explanation meeting as well as how and when the ratification vote will take place will be forthcoming.
