Dear CWA Members and Retirees,
I’d like to wish all of our members and retirees a Happy Father’s Day. Today I think about the role my own father played in my life showing me, by his own example, the type of man I wanted to be. Fathers play a large part in shaping who we will become and, in my case, it was his union participation that started me on a journey that has led to this moment. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught me, of commitment and perseverance, live on in me and, I hope, in my own children.
We also honor those fathers who consciously choose fatherhood, who take on the responsibility, and joy, of raising children either as a stepparent or a foster parent. Whether by blood or by choice, fatherhood can, and should, be one of the greatest adventures we can hope to embark on.
To all the fathers, I wish you love and peace on your special day.
