HUMAN RIGHTS
Americans shouldn’t have to choose between their health and their vote. But as we’ve seen in recent primaries, many states are unprepared to provide voters with the protections needed to ensure the 2020 elections are conducted safely, without diminishing our fundamental right to vote. This is why it’s critical we put grassroots pressure on Congress to ensure states receive funding in the next COVID-19 bill.
Please join us in a Day of Action TODAY, April 20th, to protect our elections. Write a letter to your Member of Congress demanding that adequate funding is included in the next COVID-19 stimulus package. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/protectourvote/
The package must include $4 billion in funding to states that need to implement and expand vote-by-mail, same-day voter registration, online registration, extend early voting, and any other critical measures for safeguarding our democracy. Vote-by-mail ensures voters can participate in our elections without having to venture outside during the pandemic, and expanding early voting will ensure that voters who need to vote in person won’t be faced with long lines and massive crowds.
P.S. Join us tonight at 7 PM/ 4 PM PT for a digital town hall with the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center, and other allies as we discuss the detrimental impact of the coronavirus on communities of color. Special guests include Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) and Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA). Hear from directly impacted people sharing their stories.
You’re also invited to join us at 8 PM ET/ 5 PM PT to discuss the need for swift action from Congress to secure our right to safely vote. You’ll hear from elected leaders and organizations fighting to protect our vote! Click here for more information.
