COVID-19 VACCINATIONS NOW AVAILABLE FOR AGES 50 AND OLDER IN LA COUNTY
Beginning today, Thursday, April 01, 2021, individuals ages 50 and older may be vaccinated in LA County! Here are several tools to follow to ensure you are equipped to get an appointment.
You must bring document(s) to show all 3 of the following:
- Photo ID, and
- Proof that you live in LA County, and
- Proof that you are age 50 or older
(Note: one document may cover more than one requirement of the three criteria e.g. driver’s license, however, it does not have to be government issued and you do not need to be a US citizen.)
- myturn.ca.gov/ allows you to book appointments at local pharmacies, community clinics, and the mega-pod sites, such as ours at the Forum. You can also make an appointment by calling (833) 540-0473 between 8:00 am and 8:30 pm, 7 days a week for assistance with appointments. Visit vaccinatelacounty.com and register to receive newsletters from the County. The newsletters will state when the County is opening up appointments that you can register for.
- Follow Department of Public Health on their Facebook account at Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to receive appointment notifications as well.
Potential Side-Effects of the COVID-19 vaccine:
- You may get side-effects, like the ones after the flu vaccine or shingles vaccine. Side-effects are more common after the second dose and in younger people.
- They usually do not last long, and you should feel better within a day or two.
They may include:
- Fever and muscle aches
- Headache
- Feeling tired
- Sore or red arm side effects are normal and a sign that the vaccine is working. It shows your body is learning to fight a germ and build up immunity. It is important to get the second dose even if you get side effects after the first dose.
